Faithful & Gould is actively providing advice on remediating unsafe cladding on 187 buildings, despite being sued for approving the use of combustible materials on a London estate.<\/p>\n
The Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has allocated \u00a3600m for the removal of dangerous aluminium composite material (ACM) cladding on 253 buildings, out of total of 481 buildings identified with unsafe cladding.<\/p>\n
In a monthly update for February 2022, the DHLUC said within this funding program 187 buildings have received or are receiving advice from the firm. Faithful & Gould\u2019s work, it said, provided and \u201cadditional expert capability\u201d to the process.<\/p>\n
The update said: \u201cEach building supported by Faithful & Gould is allocated a remediation advisor who provides guidance and assistance to the entity responsible for remediation. Faithful & Gould\u2019s support has helped increase the pace of remediation and ensure that remediation is started and completed as swiftly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month, the Daily Mail<\/a><\/em> revealed that the government had paid the consultant \u00a310m for its services. This sum comprised 80 per cent of the total fees paid to consultants who provide remediation work. The remaining 20 per cent was paid to five other firms.<\/p>\n The London-based consultant was appointed to this role in March 2020. This was five months after Camden Council announced it was pursuing Faithful & Gould, along with other subcontractors and a liquidated developer, for damages on work it had to carry out on an estate.<\/p>\n The Chalcots Estate (pictured) was evacuated in June 2017, days after the Grenfell Tower fire, when there were concerns that ACM cladding had been used on its facade. Cladding remediation on the estate is estimated to be a \u00a3100m job, which is currently being retendered for<\/a>.<\/p>\n The council is seeking to recover costs in the region of \u00a3130m in relation to the evacuation of Chalcots residents, the employment of fire marshals and security staff during the evacuation and beyond, its repairs to make good inadequate internal fire stopping, inadequate fire doors and other serious defects inside the Chalcots towers, and the removal of combustible aluminium composite material cladding from the blocks\u2019 outer fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n Faithful & Gould has been approached for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Faithful & Gould is actively providing advice on remediating unsafe cladding on 187 buildings, despite being sued for approving the use of combustible materials on a London estate.
