Bam FM, Galliford Try and Bouygues Energies & Services are among the contractors that have won spots on an \u00a3800m facilities-management framework for the NHS.<\/p>\n
In all, 154 suppliers \u2013 including major firms and SMEs \u2013 have been selected on the framework, across 46 specialist lots. The work covered is classed as hard facilities management, and includes building work and maintenance services, ventilation, air conditioning, power supply, infection control, fire safety and estate services.<\/p>\n
The launch of the new framework marks its second generation, which is set to run until April 2024, with a potential two-year extension.<\/p>\n
The framework was tendered for by NHS Shared Business Services (SBS), which is a joint venture between the Department of Health and Social Care and French IT services company Sopra Steria, which provides business support for the NHS.<\/p>\n
NHS SBS said the latest iteration of the framework reflects changes in health-sector operations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, and brings a stronger focus on sustainability.<\/p>\n
It added that the NHS, the UK\u2019s biggest employer, is responsible for about 4 per cent of the nation\u2019s carbon emissions, and it highlighted that suppliers included on the framework could provide expertise in low-carbon and energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n
NHS SBS senior category manager for estates and facilities Brendan Griffin-Ryan said that managing NHS estates and facilities required specialist expertise.<\/p>\n
