There were reports of the project being on life support, emergency talks with investors and even a complete buyout as the ultimate solution for its financial woes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Scrutiny of the two year old project is intense. Contractor ISG\u2019s work on site was paused in August and Britishvolt reportedly came close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/isg\/gigafactory-client-holding-emergency-funding-talks-17-10-2022\/\">filing for administration in October<\/a> but survived as investment was found. A 25 per cent internal rate of return is typically expected, according to DRS Bond Management director Chris Davies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This would mean a sale valuation for Amey of \u00a3781m \u2013 \u201ca punchy price to say the least\u201d, Davies told <i>Construction News<\/i> in October. The transaction increases the group\u2019s sales from \u20ac38bn (\u00a333.4bn) to \u20ac51bn (\u00a344.8bn) and headcount to some 200,000 in more than 80 countries. The total sales for the merged Equans part of the business will be \u20ac17bn (\u00a314.9bn) alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The acquisition comes after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/ma\/competition-watchdog-closes-bouygues-equans-probe-23-11-2022\/\">probe by the Competition and Markets Authority<\/a>, which had raised concerns about a bid for an HS2 package, which Equans then withdrew from.
