Former Carillion chief executive Richard Howson has become president of a Florida-based energy tech company, months after being banned from directing UK companies.<\/p>\n
Howson was the chief executive of Carillion from December 2011 to July 2017 \u2013 six months before the UK\u2019s second-largest construction company entered liquidation with \u00a37bn of liabilities and \u00a329m of cash.<\/p>\n
In October<\/a> Howson was banned from being a director of a UK company for eight years. The Insolvency Service said that while he led Carillion, the company had published \u201cmisleading\u201d market announcements, \u201cfalse accounting\u201d and results that \u201cfalsified and concealed\u201d the reality of problem jobs.<\/p>\n Howson has now become president (construction) for TECfusions, working onsite at its office in Tampa, according to his LinkedIn profile<\/a>. Construction News<\/em> contacted the company to confirm the appointment, which was first reported by The Guardian,<\/em><\/a> but had not heard back by the time of publication.<\/p>\n TECfusions describes itself<\/a> as a \u201cresponsible technology creation firm\u201d that operates in data-centre ownership, maintenance and design, as well as carbon capture, turbines and hydrotreated vegetable-oil fuel.<\/p>\n The company also says it aims to \u201cchange the face of technology industry [sic] by being changemakers\u201d including through its \u201ccorporate culture, strong core values and professional excellence\u201d.<\/p>\n TECfusions was founded in 2023 and has between 11-50 employees, according to its LinkedIn page<\/a>.<\/p>\n
