Galliford Try has picked up two UK government contracts worth a combined \u00a3101m.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a London Stock Exchange announcement this morning, the contractor said that its Building Southern business had sealed a \u00a370m deal with the Home Office and Ministry of Justice to expand a disused immigration removal centre in Oxfordshire.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 400-bed facility at Campsfield House near Kidlington will accommodate men only, under a reopening plan launched by the Home Office in June 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

The original 282-bed centre was closed in 2019 following years of problems including hunger strikes, escapes, self-harm and suicides.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the other job, Galliford\u2019s Building East Midlands business will refurbish and create new secure office space for UK Strategic Command at RAF Wyton, under the Programme to Rationalise and Integrate the Estate II project.<\/span><\/p>\n

The contractor picked up the \u00a331m deal from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation within the Ministry of Defence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Galliford could not disclose the timescales for the two projects due to the pre-election purdah period. But chief executive Bill Hocking said the two deals represented \u201ckey markets\u201d for the firm\u2019s sustainable-growth strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was reinforced last week, when Galliford said it was<\/span> targeting an operating margin of 4 per cent by 2030 with annual revenue of \u00a32.2bn<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm posted turnover of \u00a31.39bn in the year ending 30 June 2023, placing it 15th in the<\/span> CN100 ranking of the UK\u2019s biggest contractors<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
