Bouygues UK has bagged a bumper job to deliver four new buildings at Stanmore College.<\/p>\n

The contractor said it will start work at the college \u201cimminently\u201d including the replacement of four existing buildings with new builds.<\/p>\n

It will use its kit-of-parts approach for education projects, which Bouygues said would \u201chelp ensure flexibility, affordability, sustainability, reduced ongoing maintenance and surety of price and programme\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bouygues<\/a> will first reconstruct blocks A and B at the college, before working on blocks on the rest of the site. This will allow the college to stay open during the works.<\/p>\n

The new site will include a new lecture hall, sporting facility and gym, which will be equipped with solar panels and natural ventilation.<\/p>\n

Stanmore College said Bouygues will make a \u201cconcerted effort\u201d to carry out the works during non-peak hours to minimise the impact on students.<\/p>\n

Work is set to finish in summer 2027. Bouygues said its first cohort of T-level students will start internships in design and surveying and planning as the project gets underway.<\/p>\n

Bouygues took the job under the \u00a37bn CF21 Framework, which was announced in 2023. The new college will be funded by the Department for Education\u2019s (DfE\u2019s) Further Education Improvement Programme.<\/p>\n

Bouygues UK managing director for London and the South East Phillippa Prongu\u00e9 said the education sector was a \u201ckey focus\u201d for the firm.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur construction methods for schools have evolved in line with the DfE\u2019s output specification and we are looking forward to using our kit-of-parts approach and incorporating more offsite construction,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that the construction of high-quality education buildings plays a key role in producing better student outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May, Bouygues completed construction work at the Ray Dolby Centre at the University of Cambridge. The \u00a3303m job to construct the 32,900 square metre Department of Physics followed a \u00a332.2m job to develop Pencoedtre High School in Wales, a 1,200-capacity site that got planning permission in 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
