Balfour Beatty has been picked for \u00a3363m worth of cabling job in East Anglia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The UK\u2019s largest contractor will undertake the Bramford to Twinstead reinforcement job for National Grid, building new lines and cables to upgrade the electricity network.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Balfour Beatty will replace the existing high-voltage electricity network between Bramford substation in Suffolk and Twinstead Tee in Essex with a new 18km, 400 kilovolt overhead line.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project was won via<\/span> National Grid\u2019s \u00a31.5bn RIIO-2 framework<\/span><\/a>, which was let in 2021. Balfour Beatty is one of just two contractors to be included in the lots for both overhead lines and underground work, alongside Morgan Sindall.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project also involves delivering 11km of underground cable through the Stour Valley and Dedham Vale between Ipswich and Colchester, which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Balfour Beatty will start construction in the first half of 2025, employing 200 workers at the peak of the project before completing in 2028.<\/span><\/p>\n

This summer, the company won a<\/span> \u00a3690m project<\/span><\/a> to deliver the first phase of a 137km power line in Skye, as well as a<\/span> \u00a3192m job to build three substations in Argyll<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
