Galliford Try has won the contract to complete a link road in Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n

The firm announced yesterday (24 September) that its infrastructure business had been appointed to a contract worth \u00a388.9m to complete the South East Aylesbury Link Road (SEALR) project.<\/p>\n

The firm will build 1.1 miles of dual carriageway including three new roundabout junctions linking the A413 Wendover Road with the Stoke Mandeville Relief Road.<\/p>\n

The project is aimed at reducing congestion in the centre of the town, Galliford Try said in a stock exchange notice.<\/p>\n

The road is being built in two sections, with works including a new bridge across a railway line. The council said the project is due to be completed within the next two years.<\/p>\n

Bill Hocking, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: \u201cThe local authority sector is a key focus for our infrastructure business, and we have a strong track record in constructing major link roads throughout the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buckinghamshire Council leader Martin Tett described the project as \u201cincredibly complex\u201d.<\/p>\n

In April, the council reported that due to inflation and other cost increases, the cost of the road had risen by \u00a333m to \u00a3148m<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This was resolved by the council moving across money previously earmarked for a proposed 1,100-home development.<\/p>\n

Tett said: \u201cWe urgently need the right infrastructure in place in Aylesbury and this [road] is a key part of that, being directly delivered by the council.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
