Bam and Ferrovial have scooped the contract to design and build track infrastructure for the entire 140-mile route of HS2.<\/p>\n
The joint venture (JV) was chosen to deliver the three sections of high-speed route between Old Oak Common and Birmingham Curzon Street station, part of a wider set of contracts worth a combined \u00a33bn.<\/p>\n
The deal will see the JV design and install about 280 miles of track, capable of speeds up to 225mph, as well as acting as the principal contractor for track-related works, overseeing logistics and supporting the testing and commissioning phase.<\/p>\n
The exact value of the work to be delivered by the two companies will be confirmed once contracts are signed, they said.<\/p>\n
John Wilkinson, chief operating officer of Bam UK & Ireland, said the firm was proud to continue its work on HS2 with longstanding partner Ferrovial, with the two companies already having collaborated on enabling and main works packages.<\/p>\n

Spanish giant Ferrovial said it was the largest scheme secured by its UK construction business since becoming active in the market over 20 years ago.<\/p>\n
The company has built 12 per cent of Spain\u2019s high-speed rail network and delivered more than a quarter of its track.<\/p>\n
The two companies first worked together in 2010 to deliver three Crossrail contracts, including the longest stretch of tunnelling works between Royal Oak and Farringdon Station, the first central station to be completed on the Elizabeth Line.<\/p>\n
