A senior appointment at a major contractor and a new position for a former ISG director were the most notable people moves in construction this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mosey on up<\/h3>\n

On 10 March, Wates named George Mosey as its new operations director for construction.<\/span><\/p>\n

He will work with the senior team \u201cto drive forward Wates\u2019 continued focus on safety, quality, sustainability and operational performance\u201d, the tier one contractor said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mosey will also sit on the firm\u2019s construction board.<\/span><\/p>\n

He joins Wates after spending his whole career so far at Laing O\u2019Rourke, which he joined in 2008 as a junior procurement manager before rising to head European procurement in January last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHis new role will blend his previous experience across health and safety, procurement and project delivery,\u201d Wates said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purvis fit for agile working<\/h3>\n

Elsewhere this week, a former ISG director landed a role at European fit-out specialist Agilit\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm said Sara Purvis will lead its German activities, overseeing operations and business development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since January last year, Purvis has been a divisional director for ISG in Berlin, and has spent nine years in Germany working for companies such as WeWork.<\/span><\/p>\n

She began her career in 1996 as a land buyer and planner for Wimpey Homes (now Taylor Wimpey).<\/span><\/p>\n

Other roles held in the UK include principal planning officer for Harrogate Borough Council and planning development officer at the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earl ranks highly<\/h3>\n

Back in the UK, housebuilder Henry Boot announced the appointment of ex-Vistry chief operating officer Earl Sibley as a non-executive director, effective from 1 April.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sibley will become a member of various Henry Boot committees, including those overseeing audit and risk, nomination, remuneration and responsible business.<\/span><\/p>\n

He joined Vistry in 2015 and spent nine years with the group as chief financial officer, interim chief executive, and most recently as chief operating officer.<\/span><\/p>\n

That role was removed from Vistry\u2019s company structure in November, and<\/span> Sibley subsequently left the housebuilder at the end of last year<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining Vistry, he spent seven years as regional finance director at Barratt Developments, from 2008 to 2015. His CV also includes the role of senior manager at Ernst & Young, where he spent 13 years, from 1993 to 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n

Herculean feat<\/h3>\n

Construction labour provider Hercules Site Services has appointed Jacques Kriel as business development director.<\/span><\/p>\n

He is tasked with growing the firm\u2019s core labour supply business, Hercules said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, the company added, Kriel will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and strengthening Hercules\u2019 position in key infrastructure sectors, including rail, highways, nuclear power and energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kriel joins from M Group, where he spent eight months as aviation director. Before then, he served for 10 years at VGC Group, latterly as managing director from 2020 to 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

His CV also includes stints at tier one contractors Balfour Beatty (2008-13) and Sir Robert McAlpine (2004-07).<\/span><\/p>\n

Kriel will report to Hercules chief executive Brusk Korkmaz.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carnival for Furnival<\/h3>\n

Warrington-based distributor Bluebay Building Products has appointed Lucy Furnival as its new managing director.<\/span><\/p>\n

She will take charge of operations across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her arrival follows the acquisition of Bluebay by Wolseley Group last month. Bluebay is now part of Wolseley\u2019s infrastructure division.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furnival joins the construction products distributor after spending 11 months at ACS Stainless Steel Fixings, from February to December last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has further held director-level roles at Hilti, SIG and Speedy Hire.<\/span><\/p>\n
