Milestone Infrastructure has secured an \u00a3840m roads maintenance deal in Oxfordshire.<\/p>\n
The Hertfordshire-headquartered firm will look after more than 4,800km of highways following a contract award announced on Friday (21 March).<\/p>\n
The deal from Oxfordshire County Council will start on 1 April and run to 2033, with a possible extension for up to 14 further years.<\/p>\n
Milestone will be responsible for routine maintenance of roads, footways and cycleways, plus\u00a0a range of other assets such as barriers, verges, signs and trees.<\/p>\n
Drainage systems, structures, fences, road markings, street furniture, and public rights of way fall under the deal as well.<\/p>\n
The contractor will provide emergency response to incidents and carry out winter works such as snow clearance.<\/p>\n
Road upgrade jobs worth up to \u00a3750,000 are also covered by the deal, as will traffic and event management.<\/p>\n
Just two tenders were received for the contract, with Oxfordshire County Council awarding it to Milestone after an evaluation process that focused on quality of bid, price and social value.<\/p>\n
The contractor is the incumbent in the area, having been appointed in 2010 to a decade-long agreement that was extended for a further five.<\/p>\n
Milestone Infrastructure is part of M Group Services, which works across the water, energy, transport and telecom sectors in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n
